We head over to the western suburbs, to the City Mazda Stadium in Richmond where Friday Night Lights shined brightly on the contest between the Bloods and the Redlegs. These two had not yet faced off this season, going back to their last encounter the 'Legs put Westies to the sword with a seven-goal victory.
Norwood's last two trips to Richmond didn't bring any rewards, but this time the Redlegs got off to a good start this time around, kicking 3.2 to a lowly 1.1 to take a 13-point lead at the first change. The Redlegs would go on to extend that gap to 17 points by the half-time break, adding a further three goals to West's 2.2. When play resumed though, the Bloods faithful would get the shock of their lives. The Redlegs ran riot in the third term, restricting the Bloods to just three behinds while kicking 5.3 for themselves. All of a sudden, the home side went from being well in touch and within three straight kicks to almost eight goals down at the last change, a 41-point deficit on the board. The scoring tempo slowed down for the last quarter, the visitors adding 2.3 to the Bloods' 1.2 to take a nine-goal victory.
Darren Pfeiffer's return from injury yielded 22 disposals and best afield honours for the Redlegs, while Ben Macreadie took best on ground votes for West.
