Match Report

We head over to the seaside, to Gliderol Stadium in Glenelg as the Tigers faced the Eagles. The last eight matches between these two clubs fall in Glenelg's favour, but the last match was not one of them. The Tigers were bundled out of the premiership race in the 1st Semi-Final by 38 points at AAMI Stadium. The Tigers were coming off a massive win, the Eagles were also winners as well but against a fellow top five side. The gap was made very obvious, very quickly.

The Eagles inaccuracy on goal would not really figure into the contest as they kicked 5.5 to 1.3 to start the match, a 26-point lead to the visitors at quarter-time. That gap would get considerably bigger by the half-time break, the Eagles adding a further 6.4 to 3.2 to stretch their advantage to 40 points. Inaccuracy would then become Glenelg's worst enemy, although the Eagles could only manage 1.2 in the third term the Tigers would kick seven behinds. At the three quarter-time siren the Eagles would hold a 41-point lead. A last term run by the Tigers would fail to bring rewards though, they kicked 6.2 to 2.2 to see the Eagles off to a 25-point win.

Bernie Vince was named best for the Eagles, while Ben Kane was voted best for the Tigers.
