On Saturday afternoon we're off to the inner north-eastern suburbs to Coopers Stadium for the match between the Redlegs and the Panthers. For the most part, the 'Legs have had the better of the blue & whites, the last nine matches have seen them drop one and draw another. The problem with those results was that they were both at The Parade!
The first half was closely fought, the Redlegs would score 5.2 to South's 4.2 to lead by a kick at the first change. The second term saw some inaccuracy on goal by the 'Legs, but the lead would be stretched out to nine points by the half-time break after they added 4.5 to 4.2. But by this time, Norwood would be one player down but not by injury. For the first time in 10 years, the rule of two was invoked, and Nathan Eagleton would be benched for the rest of the game for two reports in a match. This would serve to spur Norwood into action, as they punished the Panthers upon resumption of play. They would kick 7.3 whilst keeping South to just 1.2 to take a 46-point lead going into the final term. It didn't stop there though, the Redlegs adding a further 6.2 to 1.2 to take a 76-point win.
Bryce Campbell was on top once again, taking best afield votes for Norwood, while South named Toby Stribling as their best.
