In the final match for Round 14, we head over to Unleash Solar Oval in Woodville for the clash between the Eagles and the Bulldogs. Despite all the pain the Dogs have inflicted on the Eagles in the past decade, winning at Oval Avenue has been a tough task for the reigning premiers who had not won a game at Woodville since 2005 and going in without two key players was expected to work against them.
The Eagles came close to knocking them off in Round 7 at Elizabeth and looked to avenge that loss, despite the Dogs taking first blood the Eagles would lead by 14 points at quarter-time after scoring 4.2 to two goals. Centrals kicked back in the second term with 3.4, but the Eagles' only goal of the term at the half-time siren along with two behinds would tie the scores up at 34 points each at the long break. When play resumed, some inaccuracy found its way into the Dogs game as once again the Eagles re-took the lead. The home side scored 3.2 to Central's 2.4 to be up by just four points at three quarter-time. But the Bulldogs hunger for a Woodville victory -- and Eddie Sansbury's 50m bomb in time-on -- would get the visitors over the line. The Dogs scored 3.1 to the Eagles' 1.3 to take a one-goal win and end the hoodoo.
It couldn't have been scripted any better for Sansbury... Indigenous Round, the winning goal and best on ground honours for the Bulldogs, while Scott Lewis was named best for the Eagles.
