We head over to the Unleash Solar Oval in Woodville as the Eagles faced the Bloods. In the last match between these west-side teams, the Eagles swooped into Richmond in Round 17 and humiliated the Bloods with an 83-point hiding. Along with a five-point win in Round 8, the Eagles were aiming at a clean sweep while the Bloods finals chances were as thin as a thread... and about to get thinner.
The Eagles inaccuracy on goal in the first term wouldn't stop them from taking a 17-point lead at quarter-time after scoring 3.6 to West's 1.1. But the inaccuracy bug vacated the Eagles camp for the following term, they would boot 6.2 to West's 3.2 to extend their advantage to 35 points by the half-time break. SA footy-heads would no doubt be scratching their heads as to what happened to the West Adelaide mob this season, such promise shown in the early goings but falling victim to key personnel losses didn't help their cause late in the season. The Eagles continued the pain in the second half, as they would continue to put the deficit well out of West's reach. A 4.1 to 1.2 third quarter would see the gap blow out to 46 points, followed by a final term Eagles blitz of 6.3 to 3.2 which saw the visitors eventually hammered by 71 points.
The Eagles named Craig Parry as their best on ground, while Shane Birss was voted best for the Bloods.
