A quick tram-ride takes us down to the Bay to Gliderol Stadium, playing host to the match between the Tigers and the Magpies. The Tigers have had a good run against the Maggies as of late, the last 10 matches saw all but one match escape Glenelg's grasp, which was a two-point loss in Round 2 at Alberton. The Tigers have their finals berth already assured, but despite their win last weekend, the massive loss from Round 20 is still etched in their psyche.
The Tigers started off best, but inaccuracy stopped them really asserting control as they kicked 4.5 to 2.2 to take a 15-point lead at the first change. That inaccuracy would cost them dearly as the Magpies launched their assault. Starting in the second quarter, the Maggies landed home 6.3 to Glenelg's lowly 1.2 to take a 16-point lead at the long break. When play resumed, Port continued their run as they added a further 5.5 to the Tigers' 3.3 to establish a five-goal deficit going into the final term. The Magpies were doing pretty much everything right, their desperation for the ball nullifying anything the Tigers could muster as the visitors added a further 5.5 to 4.3 to win by 38 points.
Port named Terry Milera as their standout, while the Tigers named Ben Kennedy as their best.
