We head westside to the City Mazda Stadium in Richmond for the clash between the Bloods and the Double Blues. Sturt's horror season's few highlights came at the expense of the Bloods in 2011, their last encounter in Round 12 saw the Blues hand out a 58-point belting at Unley. The Bloods had everything to play for this night, but other results would have to fall their way in quite large deficits.
With that in mind, the Bloods started proceedings with a three goal to 2.3 first quarter to be up by three points at the first change. Sturt's poor kicking on goal continued in the second term as the Bloods booted a further 7.1 to a lousy 1.5, putting the gap out to 35 points at the long break. The third quarter was the only part of the game where the visitors outscored Westies, but 2.3 to 1.2 would hardly dent the Bloods' advantage as the home side still held a 28-point lead at the final change. The final term was a near shootout as the Bloods kicked 3.5 to 3.2 to take out a 31-point win, but unfortunately the win wouldn't boost West's percentage enough to even take sixth spot.
The Bloods named Daniel Caire was as their best on ground, while the Blues named Brodie Martin as their standout.
