We're on the tram to the bay, getting off at Brighton Road for the match between the Tigers and the Bulldogs under the Friday Night Lights of Gliderol Stadium. The Bulldogs have inflicted all manner of misery on the Tigers over recent years, although there has been a few times where the Bays have managed to turn the tables even during the Dogs' premiership years. One that would spring to mind for many would be the drawn match in 2009, leaving many Dogs fans seething. Then there was a similar situation in Round 7 last year, only this time the Tigers jagged a one-goal victory. However, the following match would see the Dogs smash the eventual wooden spooners in Round 17 by 59 points.
While the weather wasn't horrid, a misty rain fell on Glenelg and probably kept some fans away. The Bulldogs were definitely out of sorts early, some key outs hurting them as the Tigers took a 17-point lead by quarter-time after kicking 3.2 to a lousy three behinds. But it seemed that for the first half, the southern end was the scoring end as the Doggies clicked into gear to kick 5.4 to the Tigers' 2.3. At half-time, the Dogs were ahead by two points. When play resumed, the Dogs picked up right where they left off. They kept the Bays scoreless, the home fans bewildered and probably thinking "not again" as the visitors kicked a further 5.3 to take a 35-point lead going into the final change. A late final term charge by the home side teased their faithful right to the end, but the Tigers' inaccuracy on goal would deny them a first win for the season. Central's lowly 1.4 to 4.5 would keep the Tigers winless thus far, the Dogs taking a 15-point win to open their 2015 account.
Jarrod Schiller was named best for the Dogs, while the Tigers named Matt Snook as their standout.
