We head across to Richmond on Saturday arvo, where the Bloods faced the Magpies at City Mazda Stadium. These sides traded blows on each other over the two matches in Season 2014, with the home sides on the day coming out victorious. Round 4 saw the Magpies smack the Bloods off Alberton with their 58-point hiding, but revenge came in Round 11 when Westies took a 17-point victory at Richmond. The ladder placings would have suggested a close match, perhaps favouring the Bloods who were third to Port's fourth.
The opening term would have the local faithful believing that too, with the Bloods leading at quarter-time by a goal after they scored 3.1 to the Magpies' 2.1. But with some key personnel missing, that fight would be short lived and from here it was going to be all black & white. In the second quarter, the Bloods were kept to a lousy two behinds while the Magpies bagged 5.3 to take a 25-point lead at the half-time break. When play resumed, the goals were not going to be as plentiful as the first half was but the Magpies would continue to push the deficit further out of the Bloods' reach. A further 3.3 to the Bloods' mere 1.1 would see the gap go out to 39 points by three quarter-time. The only thing negative to say about Port's afternoon was their efficiency going into attack, the final margin perhaps should have been greater. But it didn't matter in the end, the Magpies leaving Richmond with a 50-point win after finishing the match with a 3.2 to 1.3 final term.
Louis Sharrad was named best for the Magpies, Westies named Adam Hartlett as their standout.
