Match Report

The second match of the Saturday schedule now takes us to Prospect Oval where the Roosters hosted the Bloods. There's been no crowing from the North camp for a while now, their first week under a new coach brought them a hammering from their northern rivals in the Bulldogs to the tune of 99 points. The Bloods didn't have it too much better in their last match either, copping a 50-point hiding by the Magpies. But the Bloods aren't on the wrong end of the ladder and they smacked the Roosters off Richmond earlier this season by 13 goals in Round 6. To the Westies faithful, the Roosters were ready for another roasting.

The Bloods started feasting straight away, they bagged 7.1 while the Roosters could only manage four behinds to take a quarter-time lead of 39 points. More fuel was thrown on the fire in the second term, West adding a further 6.4 to North's lowly 1.4 as the deficit stretched out to 12 goals by half-time. When play resumed, the Bloods machine stalled in astonishing fashion and the Roosters played probably their best quarter of football for 10 rounds. The visitors kicked 6.3 and kept the home side scoreless, bringing the gap back to 33 points by three quarter-time. But it would prove to be a little bit of a tease for the North supporters, the Roosters would score just one goal in the final term as the Bloods got stuck right back into it to ram home 8.1 and record a 76-point victory.

Kaine Stevens was voted best for the Bloods, North named Luke Teasdale as their standout.
