Match Report

In the final match of the weekend, we head over to the bayside suburb of Glenelg, to Gliderol Stadium where the Tigers hosted the Redlegs. If any game this season was to be remembered as the mismatch of the year, this should have been it. The Redlegs, at the beginning of this round, were sitting up top with just one loss to their name. The Tigers broke through for their first victory of the year back in Round 9 and sit ninth above cellar-dwellers North, the team they beat to get there. But they've threatened upsets over the past few rounds, taking it up to Port and South. But we all know the reigning premiers are a different mob... which made this match all the more unbelievable.

The Tigers jumped the Redlegs early, despite their inaccuracy they would find themselves up by 23 points at quarter-time after scoring 5.5 to two goals. Their anticipated fade-out wasn't on the cards in the second term, in fact they would only add to their lead, kicking a further 5.1 to Norwood's 3.4 to take their advantage out to 32 points going into the half-time break. The Redlegs started to show signs of awakening in the third term, but it would be a shootout as both sides scored 3.3 each to leave the half-time gap unchanged. The visitors made their move in the final term as was expected, putting the Tigers under the pump and it seemed to affect their goalkicking as they kicked an inaccurate 2.5. But Norwood's score of 6.4 would not be enough as the Tigers went on to record a nine-point win in a match that is sure to be 2015's upset of the season.

Aaron Joseph was named best for the Tigers, while the Redlegs named Michael Chippendale as their best.
