At the old Eagles' nest at Thebarton, the Crows and the Double Blues faced off at Aldi Arena. These two sides clashed only five weekends ago, the Crows led at every change but couldn't keep the Blues away in the final quarter as they were overran four goals to two to go down by 10 points. For this game, to the Blues' credit they gave up home ground advantage for the spacious surrounds of the home of the SAAFL, a ground that Sturt coach Martin Matter believed would teach his charges about playing on big ovals.
They seemed to learn quickly, the Blues going into the first change with a seven-point lead after scoring 4.3 to 3.2 in the opening quarter. The second quarter was tit-for-tat football, the Crows chipping a point of that quarter-time deficit with their 3.3 to Sturt's 3.2. At the half-time break, the Blues were ahead by a goal. The trend would continue in the third quarter, the match turning into an arm wrestling match with both sides scoring 2.2 to leave the half-time deficit unchanged going into the final quarter. But the Crows would finish strongly, their defence keeping the Sturt attacks down and repelling most right back to the other end, Adelaide kicked 5.2 to two goals to win by 12 points and hand the Blues their first loss since the season opener against the Eagles.
Tom Doedee was named best for the Crows, while the Blues named captain Zane Kirkwood as their best.
