The last match of round 13 took place on the Sunday afternoon, we now arrive at Oxford Terrace in Unley for the Double Blues clash with their old rivals in the Redlegs. Their last stoush was back in round five over at The Parade, the Blues taking a three-goal victory after the Redlegs' went from a five to one goal opening term to kicking three goals to Sturt's 10 in the ensuing three quarters. While the Blues managed to withstand the Tigers' late but inaccurate challenge last week, the Redlegs went down at home to the Bulldogs.
The early stages pointed to another embarrassing showing from the 'Legs, who kicked just two points while the Blues kicked out to a 31-point lead by quarter-time with their 5.3. The gap was brought back however by the half-time break but some missed shots would make it a three-shot deficit, Norwood's 4.4 to Sturt's 2.1 reducing the home side's lead to 16 points. From here it turned into a bit of an arm-wrestling contest, when play resumed the goals were a bit hard to come by. The Blues did add to their half-time advantage while the Redlegs goal-kicking yips continued to hold them back, a 2.2 to 1.3 third term putting the Blues up to a 21-point lead going into the final stanza. A last ditch comeback attempt would fall short for the visitors, they outscored the Blues 3.3 to 1.1 to go down by seven points, dropping them down to ninth on the ladder.
Aidan Riley was voted in as Sturt's best, while the 'Legs named Matt Fuller as their best on ground.
