Match Report

In one of the more unenviable timeslots thanks to commercial television interests, the Bulldogs took on the Redlegs at the My Money House Oval in Elizabeth. In early 2015, the Redlegs appeared to be anything but a mob suffering from a premiership hangover, taking a four-goal win at the Dog-pound. But not only would the Dogs repay the favour at The Parade with their own 24-point win in Round 12, they would also dump the defending premier from the finals with their 44-point win in the Elimination Final. The 'Legs got back into the winner's circle last weekend, but only after being pushed to the limit by Glenelg in contrast to the Bulldogs' five-goal victory against Port.

The first quarter was pretty dull on the scoreboard, Norwood's two behinds making the difference at quarter-time with both sides managing just one goal each to open proceedings. But the Bulldogs pulled an early game-breaker in the second quarter, keeping the Redlegs to just 1.2 whilst banging through 7.3 for themselves. At the long break, the Doggies were out to a 31-point lead. The second half would not be laden with scores, although the Dogs would not add too much more to their score they were keeping the Redlegs movement to a near minimum and were putting plenty of pressure on their bodies. Centrals would add a further 2.1 to the 'Legs inaccurate 1.4 in the third term to stretch their advantage to 38 points by the final change and could have blown it well beyond 10 goals if they had been more accurate in the last quarter, where they kicked 2.6 to the visitors' 1.2. In the end, it was the home side by eight goals.

Chris Jansen was named best afield for the Bulldogs, while the Redlegs named Jaryd Cachia as their best.
