Friday Night Lights at Coopers Stadium in Norwood saw the Redlegs host the Bloods. From their two matches last season, the points would be shared with the Redlegs taking the Round 9 encounter by a goal, then the Bloods' 69-point victory in Round 18 which was pretty much the beginning of the end of Norwood's title defence as they dropped the next two games including the Elimination Final. This time though, with the Bloods neck deep in a hole with no wins on the board, this was the 'Legs chance for some redemption after a shocking few weeks which had them slip to the wrong end of the ladder.
Despite some horrid shooting on goal, the Redlegs kept the Bloods scoreless and kicked 5.6 to begin the evening. At quarter-time they were up by 36 points. West finally found the big sticks in the second quarter, but the gap would still stretch out to seven goals by the long break after the 'Legs added 3.3 to 2.3. The third quarter was one the Redlegs probably shouldn't have allowed, the Bloods showing a bit of fight here to bring the deficit back to five goals after they outscored Norwood 4.1 to 2.1. But it still wasn't going to be the Bloods' night, the Redlegs keeping them at arms length with a 3.3 to four goal final term to win by 27 points, snapping their three game losing streak.
Sam Baulderstone was voted best for the 'Legs, while the Bloods named Chris Schmidt as their best.
