In the final match for the long weekend, the action extended into the Queen's Birthday holiday Monday down at the Bay, the Tigers facing the Roosters at Gliderol Stadium. Both of last season's games went to the yellow & blacks, the Tigers winning their Round 9 and 16 clashes by 35 and 56 points respectively. Glenelg's off-field troubles were forgotten for a little bit last weekend when they took the points away from Alberton for the first time in years, while the Roosters ran into some angry Panthers down south.
It took 11 minutes for the first goal to be scored, the first term was loaded with inaccuracy with the Roosters kicking 4.5 to the Tigers' five behinds to lead by 24 points at quarter-time. The Roosters would then produce a game-breaking second term effort of 7.3, the Tigers continuing to find it hard going when it came to the big sticks, kicking 2.5 to be down by 52 points at the half-time break. Things would continue to go downhill for the Bays when play resumed, the feelings of doom no doubt creeping back in by this time, the Roosters adding a further 5.2 to 2.3 as they took their advantage out to 69 points. It was a shame the Tigers let their old rivals get so far ahead especially in that third quarter, they could have given their final losing gap a little bit more respectability. But North would ensure that at least they would improve their three quarter-time gap, they added seven goals without a miss to Glenelg's 6.1 to win by 74 points.
Sam DeLeonardis was best for the Roosters, while Terry Milera was named best for the Tigers.
