Recruited from Warrnambool, 'Dookie' McKenzie (not to be confused with the Essendon champion of the same nickname) was a powerful and prominent performer for Geelong in a variety of positions during the first decade of the 20th century. Equally at home on the half back line, as a follower, or as a forward, he played a total of 87 VFL games between 1902 and 1908. His main strengths were his tremendous pace and his superb aerial ability.
