Collingwood’s Bob Grieve was a powerful and courageous defender who was 19th man in the 1958 grand final, in which the Magpies downed Melbourne. His VFL career comprised 67 games and 20 goals between 1955 and 1959, and although he was never an automatic choice for the seniors he could be relied on to do a serviceable job whenever he was selected.
