George McLaren was an accomplished wingman who gave fine service to Footscray in 139 VFL games between 1944 and 1951. He kicked 24 goals. A Victorian interstate representative against South Australia in 1946, he served as Footscray coach for a match against Richmond during his final season. In 1956, just five years after retiring as a player, George McLaren died in a car accident.
