After making his way up through the ranks at Fitzroy, Graham Gotch made his senior VFL debut in 1956. He was a particularly valuable player in that he could handle most positions, whether attacking or defensive or on the ball. He played 52 VFL games and kicked 39 goals for the Gorillas/Lions over the course of a five season stint. After leaving Fitzroy he went to Coragulac. His son Bradley later played for Fitzroy, Port Adelaide and St Kilda.
