James Gowans is the twin brother of Chris Gowans, and like him has played in nine premiership sides for Centrals, whom he joined from St Kilda in 2000. Other career highlights have included a club best and fairest award in 2003 and a Jack Oatey Medal following the 2000 Grand Final in which the Bulldogs claimed their first ever senior flag by downing Woodville-West Torrens by 22 points.
