Jamie Lawson was a highly promising young indigenous Australian footballer whose career was summarily wrecked by injury. Originally from Wentworth, he was drafted by Sydney, and quickly showed that he was a player of genuine all round football talent. From 1991 to 1994 he made 61 senior appearances for the Swans, mainly as a rover, and scored 29 goals. Late in the 1994 season he was producing some of the best football of his career when he broke his leg in a match against Richmond. The break developed complications which precluded playing top level football. Consequently, at the age of just 24, his league career was over.
