After struggling to establish himself at Melbourne, where he managed just a dozen games and seven goals in 1964-5, Jim Leitch accepted an offer to play for NTFA team Scottsdale. Over the course of the next eight seasons he achieved virtually everything the game of football has to offer, including membership of four premiership-winning teams, a club best and fairest win, state football for Tasmania in 1971 and at the 1972 Perth carnival, and membership of the 1972 All Australian team, the only Scottsdale player to achieve the distinction. Hardly surprisingly, his achievements earned him selection in the official AFL Tasmania Hall of Fame, as well as a place in the Scottsdale Football Club’s official ‘Team of the Century’.
