After commencing his senior football career with Waverley in the VFA Kevin Morris joined Richmond in 1971 where he swiftly established himself as a key member of the team. After initially playing mostly as a half back flanker he developed into one of the finest ruck-rovers in the game. Boasting considerable raw physical strength he was also highly creative in his use of the ball, qualities which were very much to the fore in the period 1972 to 1974 when the Tigers contested three straight grand finals, losing the first but winning the other two. In the 1973 defeat of Carlton Morris started the match on the bench but a year later he was one of the best players afield as Richmond thrashed North Melbourne. The 1975 season brought a continuation of Morris' good form and he won that season's club best and fairest. Despite this, within twelve months he wanted to move to North Melbourne but, after missing the entire 1977 season, ended up at Collingwood where he gave good service including participating in the losing grand finals of 1979 and 1981, both against Carlton.
Kevin Morris' Richmond career comprised 110 VFL games and 71 goals between 1971 and 1976 and he added 71 games and 53 goals with the Magpies from 1978 to 1981. He spent the 1982 season captain-coaching VFA fist division team Werribee. He later coached West Adelaide in South Australia.
