After playing a dozen games for Williamstown in 1975 Mick Kelly was recruited by Footscray. Prior to that he had played for Braybrook, which over the years has been an exceptional nursery for budding V/AFL footballers. Kelly proved to be a serviceable acquisition for Footscray, playing 57 games and scoring 18 goals from 1976 to 1980.
