Ron Lunn was quite tall for a wingman of his era at 180cm, a fact which helped him out-mark many opponents. He also boasted exceptional pace, and liked nothing better than to make blistering runs into space with the ball before feeding his forwards. He joined Geelong from Drysdale, and was a solid performer for the Cats in 39 VFL games from 1948 to 1950, during which he booted half a dozen goals. Crossing to Essendon in 1951 he added a final 28 games and three goals over two seasons. He was unfortunate to miss the 1951 grand final, in which the Bombers lost to his original league club, with injury.
