Tom Floyd was an aggressive, hard tackling rover who excelled at not only winning the hard ball but using it quickly and effectively afterwards. He joined Geelong from local club Geelong West, and he handled himself well at the game’s elite level, although he fell out of favour towards the end of his time with the Cats. Between 1978 until midway through the 1982 season he played 47 VFL games for Geelong and registered 38 goals. He was a member of the Cats’ 1981 reserves premiership-winning team.
After 10 rounds of the 1982 season Floyd crossed to Collingwood where he added a final 14 games and eight goals over a season and a half.
