A pacy, skilful wingman who knew how to look after himself, Vic Fisher did not always accumulate high disposal numbers but was nevertheless highly effective because he used the ball so well. He commenced his career with West Perth just after world war two and went on to play a total of 65 WANFL games for the club, in two stints. In 1948 and 1949 he played for Essendon where he garnered a high reputation. He was a reserve for the 1948 grand final, which the Bombers lost to Melbourne, and in his customary position on a wing for the following year’s flag decider in which Carlton was emphatically put to the sword. This proved to be the last of his 25 VFL appearances.

Back with West Perth again in 1950 Fisher enjoyed premiership success a second time the following year as the Cardinals scored a 13.10 to 12.13 grand final defeat of South Fremantle.
