Brett Ebert is the son of former Port Adelaide legend Russell Ebert. He emulated his father by winning a Magarey Medal in 2003 while playing for Port Magpies, and he made his AFL debut with the Power in round two of the following season. A small forward with a booming kick and good marking ability for his size, he missed Port Adelaide's 2004 grand final triumph against Brisbane, but quickly bounced back and enjoyed possibly his best season to date in 2007 when he booted 56 goals for the year to top his club's list. His form waned somewhat the following season but Ebert continued to be a solid contributor throughout 2009, 2010 and 2011. A knee injury sustained in the last round of 2011 saw him miss a substantial part of the 2012 season and further injury issues resulted in Ebert not playing game in 2013, after which he retired.
