Harry Guy was the finest and most reliable backman of the 19th century, and was the rock on which Carlton’s considerable success in the 1870s was built. Universally respected, he was the Blues captain and best player when the club won four flags in the period 1871-75. He retired in 1879 after fifteen years’ service.
