Recruited by St Kilda from East Brighton Jeff Moran made his senior VFL debut in 1965 and went on to enjoy a ten season, 155 game, 63 goal career with the club. Initially used mainly as a wingman he occupied that position in the Saints’ one point grand final defeat of Collingwood in 1966. As time went on he began to demonstrate considerable versatility and was used in a variety of positions with more or less equal success. Extremely resolute and tough, he was perhaps most effective in a negating role, although in the losing grand final of 1971 against Hawthorn he was used as a half forward flanker. After leaving St Kilda Moran played for VFA first division power club Dandenong.
