A quick, lively rover with good skills and keen goal sense Roger Kerr might have been expected to achieve more than he did during what nevertheless was, by any standards, a meritorious. Injuries did not help, but he also tended to be somewhat inconsistent. He came up through the ranks at East Fremantle before debuting in 1981. From 1981 to 1987 and in 1989 he played 85 WAFL games and booted 114 goals for the Sharks. He spent the 1988 season with Port Adelaide, playing 24 SANFL games and registering 23 goals.
The undoubted highlights of Kerr’s career were his participation in two winning grand finals, East Fremantle over Subiaco in 1985, and Port at the expense of Glenelg in 1988. He started both matches on the interchange bench.
