A half forward flanker early in his league career with Glenelg, Ron Goodwin later became an outstanding centreman. Nicknamed ‘Lolly Legs’, he played 78 SANFL games and scored 34 goals for the Bays from 1937 to 1941 as well as in 1946. He skippered the side in 1938 and 1939 and played for a South Australian team in a loss against a combination from Broken Hill in 1938.
