Glenelg’s 1938 best and fairest winner Ron Keane was a tough, dependable centre half back whose career coincided with a grim time for the Bays. Between 1938 and 1946 he played 124 SANFL games, including some for the West Adelaide-Glenelg wartime combination. Reflecting his stay at home nature he only registered a single goal in his career. In 1945 Keane helped South Australia to a famous win against Victoria in Adelaide.
