"Controversy again attended Dandenong on their next appearance in the grand final in 1971 when they defeated Preston. The controversy focused on a goal kicked by Dandenong full forward Jim ‘Frosty’ Miller from a free kick awarded before umpire McMaster had even bounced the ball to start the game."
