Goomalling

With no fewer than twenty-two senior grade premierships to their credit the Blues have been far and away the Mortlock Football League's most successful club. Included in this total were sequences of six flags in a row between 1963 and 1968 and  five in succession between 1992 and 1996. The club’s most recent flag in 2007 was won in most emphatic fashion at the expense of Dowerin. After leading by just a single point at the first change Goomalling ‘exploded’ in the second term, adding 11.4 to 1.2, thereby effectively finishing the match as a contest. Final scores were Goomalling 27.10 (172) to Dowerin 16.12 (108). Had the Goomalling players not discernibly taken their feet off the accelerator during the last quarter the final margin would probably have been even more embarrassing for the losers.

More recently the Blues have found life somewhat tougher, as exemplified by a wooden spoon in 2017. There was a measure of improvement in 2018 as the side managed seven wins from 14 matches to clamber up the seven team premiership ladder to fifth.A year later they did well to reach the grand final, in which they started as favourites, but opponents Toodyay scored a heart stopping, come from behind victory by two points.
