We head up north to the Hamra Homes Oval for the ABC TV match between Centrals and Norwood. The Redlegs were about to run into a brick wall at the Ponderosa this day, not only in the form of a Bulldogs side hell-bent on destruction but also almost solely on the boots of young gun Daniel Havelberg.
He booted the Dogs' first three in a first term that saw 8.2 on the board to Norwood's 3.1. This was followed up by another 7.2 to 2.2 in the second term. By half time the Bulldogs had a commanding 61 point lead. But the punishment would not stop for the visitors. After the long break, the boots of Havelberg and Co. continuing to demoralize the Redlegs with another 8.2 to 1.2 third quarter. The home side saved the best for last, a further 11.1 to a lazy two goals sealed a massive 158 point win.
Havelberg could have won the match off his own boots, his 14.1 haul eclipsing Norwood's scoring efforts for the entire match! He was named best afield for Centrals, while Luke Nitschke was Norwood's only standout.
