The fourth game for the weekend took place on the Sunday afternoon, we're back in the western suburbs to the Alberton Oval where the Magpies hosted the Bloods. The Magpies took both games over the Bloods last year, they were made to earn it a little bit in Round 7 when they won by 27 points, but when they lobbed at Richmond it was a 73-point hammering. Dark times still look to be ahead for the Bloods, who still have yet to register points in 2017. The were denied a maiden victory last weekend by the Bulldogs, going down by seven points while the Pies belted South by 50 points.
Once again there was no dedicated Magpies captain to be seen and the Bloods were in for a world of pain. It didn't start straight away, but the ominous signs were there pointing to annihilation. The Bloods fluffed all their chances on goal, they scored six behinds while the Magpies, who were just as bad with missed shots, took four goals along with it. At quarter-time, it was a four-goal lead to Port... and then came the pain. The Bloods found the big sticks for a return of 2.1, but Port rammed through 7.2 to break the game completely apart and lead by 55 points at the long break. Not finished though! The avalanche continued with a 10.2 to 2.1 third quarter, widening the gap to 104 points by the last change. The final margin would be 128 points, the Magpies finishing off with a 7.4 to 3.4 last quarter.
Dougal Howard kicked eight goals and took best on ground honours for Port, the Bloods named Kaine Stevens as their standout.
