From The Basin, Angelo Petraglia was a productive rover who struggled to make his mark at North Melbourne before coming into his own later in his career at Footscray. He commenced in the under 19s at North before making his senior debut in 1984, the first of five appearances for the year, after which he was de-listed. He played the majority of the 1985 season at Port Melbourne before being recruited by Footscray, for whom he played a couple of games towards the end of the year. Along with the likes of Tony McGuinness and Brian Royal, Petraglia gave the Bulldogs one of the best roving brigades in the league. His five season stint with the club, which was brought to a premature end by knee problems, saw him play 49 games and score 56 goals.
