From North Reservoir, Bob Beattie was recruited by Fitzroy and went on to play 58 VFL games for the club and kick one goal from 1962 to 1967. He mostly played at full back, and given how poor the Lions were during his career he must have had an onerous time. In 1968 Beattie crossed to Port Melbourne for whom he played nine VFA first division games.
