Bob Ware was a handy forward and ruckman who provided solid service to Footscray between 1959 and 1963, playing 65 games and kicking 40 goals. He played as a support ruckman to John Schultz in the 1961 grand final, but despite a strong personal performance he could not prevent the Bulldogs going down to Hawthorn by 43 points.
The 1964 season found Ware at Williamstown, where he was a conspicuous presence in 43 games over the ensuing five years. He registered 67 goals. In 1966 he represented the VFA at the Hobart carnival.
