Recruited from Williamstown Rovers, Brian Barclay was a solid defender for Fitzroy between 1957 and 1962, during which time he played 61 VFL games and scored nine goals. He enjoyed a particularly impressive 1960 finals series, but could not prevent a ‘straight sets’ exit for the Roys at the hands of Melbourne and Collingwood.
