From 1924 to 1926 Carl Watson played for a Latrobe side which enjoyed NWFU premiership success in the first and last of those seasons. Fast, clever and stylish, he could play anywhere across centre, and his distribution skills were first rate. Recruited by Richmond, he played 44 games and scored three goals for the club between 1927 and 1931. He lined up on the wing in the Tigers’ losing premiership deciders of 1928 and 1929, both against Collingwood. The last phase of Watson’s playing career saw him make 11 appearances for one goal with Essendon in 1932.
Away from football Watson ran professionally and counted the 1924 Ulverstone Gift among his successes.
