Having played for Katamatite, and won the Lawless Medal as Tungamah Football League best and fairest, Gary Cameron was picked up by Geelong. A serviceable small forward, he failed fully to ignite with the Cats, managing just 26 games and 18 goals between 1987 and 1990. The 1991 season found him at South Adelaide where he slotted in well, playing 106 SANFL games over seven seasons, and heading the club’s goal kicking list in 1997, albeit with the comparatively meagre tally of just 20 goals.
