A tremendously versatile performer, especially effective at either full forward or full back, Gerald Burke played a total of 87 VFL games for Carlton, kicking 113 goals, between 1953 and 1955, and 1957 and 1960. He was the Blues top goal kicker in 1957 with 34 goals. After retiring as a player he eked out a noteworthy career for himself as a football commentator on radio.
