Jack ‘Bunny’ Skelly teamed with Bob Quinn to give Port Adelaide arguably the finest roving combination in the SANFL during the late 1930s and early 1940s. Skelly, who won a Magpie best and fairest award in 1941, was a member of the club’s 1939 grand final-winning team against West Torrens. He also played in the Port-Torrens wartime premiership team of 1942. His league career, which began in 1938 and ended ten years later, comprised 103 games in which he kicked 72 goals.
