Son of Lester Ross senior and brother of Lester Ross junior, Jonathon Ross, like them, enjoyed a fine football career. That career comprised 53 SANFL games and 45 goals for Norwood from 1991 to 1996, 20 games and four goals with Adelaide from 1992 to 1996, and five games and four goals for Peel in 1997. A strong marking forward, he would have played many more games had he not been such a frequent victim of injury. In 1996 Ross was drafted by Collingwood only to be de-listed without having played a senior game.
