Recruited by Footscray from Parkside, Ken Duff played most of his early football as a forward before migrating to the backlines. He also played some games as a ruck-rover. He made his senior league debut for the Bulldogs in 1961, a season which was to culminate in a grand final clash with Hawthorn, which the Hawks won. Duff was named as 19th man for the match. He did have the satisfaction of playing in back to back night premiership teams in 1963-4. After becoming a regular senior player in 1964-5 he looked to be firmly establishing himself and so it came as something of a surprise when he was cut from the list ahead of the 1966 campaign.
