The younger brother of Collingwood legend Bob Rose, Kevin Rose was no mean footballer in his own right. Relentlessly hard at the ball, he thought nothing of smashing his way through even the most congested of packs. He joined the Magpies from Nyah West and his tally of 159 VFL games between 1958 and 1967 included the grand final win over Melbourne at the end of his debut season. Utilised as a half back flanker early in his career he was later used to excellent effect as a ruck-rover.

After leaving Collingwood he coached VFA club Prahran to the 1970 and 1973 first division premierships, the former while still a player, the latter from the sidelines.
