Larry Spokes joined South Melbourne from Colac and, after playing just four games in his debut season of 1946, he was a regular senior player for the next three years. He retired after the 1950 season having played 61 VFL games and scored 51 goals. A forward, his best bag of goals was nine against St Kilda in round 13 1949.
